The Okee Dokee Brothers take on winter in the Radio Heartland studio
by Mike Pengra
December 12, 2018
Every album by the Okee Dokee Brothers has a message inside. Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander have been friends since they were three years old, began playing music together in high school, and have now released their fourth "adventure" album full of songs intended for children … or are they just for kids?
The Okee Dokee Brothers' new album, Winterland, is intended to celebrate winter — the snow, ice fishing, winter camping, dog sledding, etc. — but there's also songs about the importance of winter, not only for the planet, but for our lives. And it's that idea of embracing winter that struck me: the songs about candles and quite time, lazy days and good music with friends.
The Okee Dokee Brothers parked their sleds outside and brought their music inside our studio to play some music from their new album.
