The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is observed on 9 August each year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world's indigenous population. (source Wikipedia) This is a time to recognize the contributions and achievements of indigenous people. In fact, coming up next Wednesday, August 18th, is Water is Life a concert to raise awareness about the pipeline that will cut through Northern Minnesota, including Leech Lake Indian Reservation and treaty lands.

Let's honor indigenous peoples in the way we do best - with music!
