Joseph are a trio from Portland, Ore., comprising sisters Natalie, Allison and Meegan Closner. Besides their tight, sibling harmonies, their family ties create something intangible. 'There's also this entire lifetime of shared experience,' Natalie says. '[We're] bringing the spirit of that into the music as well.' Following a gig at First Avenue, Corinne Bailey Rae and her band stopped by The Current to perform live in-studio and to chat with host Mary Lucia.
Born and raised in Shreveport, La., singer-songwriter Kyle Craft now lives in Portland, Ore., where his music career began in earnest. 'A lot of things had ended, and I guess I needed a new start,' he says of his move to Portland. That new start resulted in Craft's debut album, 'Dolls of Highland,' and a subsequent tour that brings him to the Turf Club as well as to the studio at The Current for a session hosted by Brian Oake.
'I've known my whole life that I'm alive to make music,' Esme Patterson says. 'I want to keep writing songs and playing them for people.' After playing a lively show at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on Monday night, Patterson and her band stopped in to The Current studio for a session hosted by Mary Lucia.
