Listen The Local Show for March 30, 2014
Jun 25, 2016 Join David Campbell as he and the Local Team explore Minnesota's local music scene, both past and present.
This week we're pickin' on pickers.... in a good way. The Twin Cities have long been home to a hearty community of players and roots music enthusiasts keeping the traditions of the American string band alive and well. People like Pert Near Sandstone's Kevin Kniebel.
Kevin will join us in the studio as we spin you a few cuts from Pert Near's new record The Hardest Part of Leaving and give you the scoop on their Current Sessions show at The Fitzgerald Theater Sat. April 12th.
You'll also get a look at a few other string bands who call the Twin Cites home like Corpse Reviver, Pocahontas County, and yep, Pistol Whippin' Party Penguins.
If string bands aren't your thing, don't worry. We've got plenty for you, too. New music from Heiruspecs, Howler, MaLLy and Little Man, and debuts from Fire in the Northern Firs, and the breathtaking return of The Chalice's Claire de Lune in a new collaboration with producer Grant Cutler called tiny deaths.
