A few weeks ago the Austin, Texas group, The Band of Heathens dropped by The Current prior to their Fine Line show. That session airs on this United States of Americana. It airs at the midway point of show. Plus, we’ll remember Levon Helm of The Band, who died this day in 2012 and we’ll have the usual dose of new Americana!

We celebrated Minnesota Music Month on this USofA with a full 3 hours of nothing but local tunes! We checked out new things from Thomas Sticha, Favourite Girl, & The Gated Community, alongside classic from Koerner, Ray & Glover, Bob Dylan, The Jayhawks and more!

Charley Crockett issued his third album in a year’s time on Friday, so we’ll hear a few new tunes on this week’s show. We’ll also feature songs by Emmylou Harris, who turned 79 the other day!

This weeks United States of Americana jumped on the freedom train back to 1976. We check out some songs that perhaps inspired this thing we call Americana! We also checked out new songs from Johnny Blue Skies, Bedouine & Kacey Musgraves.

Local string band Pert Near Sandstone dropped by The Current to play some songs and talk their new album, their Winter String Gathering & The Blue Ox Festival on this USofA. We also featured a few tunes from Bob Dylan’s landmark album Bringing It All Back Home.

On this USofA we celebrate Ry Cooder, he turns 79 this Sunday. Plus, we’ll have the usual dose of new Americana music.

On this USofA we celebrate International Women’s Day. We played all women on this episode. We hear lots of new Americana and a few classics, as well.

It’s a big week for Americana shows. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit perform on Thursday and Margo Price takes the stage at First Avenue tonight. I’ll feature extra tracks from both of them on this USofA.

C.W. McCall’s Black Bear Road album was quite a phenomenon 50 years ago this weekend. It hit the top of the country charts, largely due to the CB radio & truck drivin’ hit “Convoy.” This time we’ll hop in the big-rig and feature a bunch of those truck-drivin’ tunes. We’ll also have the usual dose of new Americana.
