In the late 1950s, Johnny Cash recorded a number of tracks translated into the German language for his label at the time, CBS Records. Although some of the tracks were released in the U.S. on a compilation in 1978, they are not widely known on this side of the Atlantic. 'Johnny Cash makes German sound a bit more musical, and it sounds perfectly natural coming out of his mouth,' says The Current's Bill DeVille. Minnesota singer-songwriter Erik Koskinen has released a new single for the holiday season, 'On Christmas Day,' which goes into rotation on Radio Heartland starting Thursday, Dec. 1. The video for the song features archival footage from World War II, depicting U.S. soldiers hosting a Christmas party for British children displaced by the London Blitz.
