Exploring the musical legacy of Prince and beyond
A new but familiar sound is coming back to Mears Park in St. Paul on Thursday evenings this summer: the Lowertown Sounds concert series features live, local and original music, food trucks, local beer, cider and wine — and benefits the St. Paul Yellow Ribbon Network. The free concert events start June 6 and go through August 29, excluding the week of July 1. View the Lowertown Sounds music schedule (also listed below), plus the beverage and food truck partners online: www.lowertownsounds.com.
The music on the Thursday nights runs 6-9:30 p.m. and will star two to three local artists performing each evening across various genres including Indie, Jazz/Blues, Rock/Pop, Country, Earth/Roots, Funk and more. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs to listen to the concerts in comfort.
Lowertown Sounds is produced by One Simple Plan, the group that previously booked the music for the Mears Park concerts during the last decade. The concert series’ headlining sponsor is Hiway Federal Credit Union.
In addition to the music, Lowertown Sounds will pour several local, Minnesota-made craft beers from Castle Danger Brewing, The Lab Brewing, Mankato Brewing, Stacked Deck Brewing, Utepils Brewing and Wabasha Brewing. Concert-goers can also enjoy local ciders from Minneapolis Cider Company and local wine from Alexis Baily Vineyard.
Each concert will include a roster of food trucks parked along Mears Park for guests to grab a bite to pair with their beverage.
