Midge Ure
Legendary Scottish musician and producer Midge Ure brings his Band In A Box tour to The Parkway!
A key member of pioneering synth-pop and new wave bands Ultravox and Visage, Midge celebrated his 70th birthday in October 2023 with a sold-out performance at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall – and enjoyed the tribute to his life in music so much he decided to bring the show across the pond.
This rare North American tour gives Midge the opportunity to showcase the musical breadth and versatility of his extensive song catalog, giving old and new fans alike a truly remarkable night of hits and rarely heard gems.
Transmission’s DJ Jake Rudh kicks off the night with a set beginning at 6:30 pm.
With a career that started in the 1970s with Slik, Thin Lizzy, and Rich Kids — through his bands Visage and Ultravox, along with solo hits and the historic Band Aid and Live Aid concerts in the 1980s — Midge Ure has been a constant in the UK music scene. This once in a lifetime performance promises to be an extraordinary celebration of his life’s work.
Midge says “I performed live long before I was ever allowed anywhere near a recording studio and as much as I love spending time writing and recording, live music remains my first love. This ‘Band in a Box’ tour will allow me to not only play a wide selection of hits from my past but perform some of the most requested favourites. Revisiting these moments from my musical life is something I am really looking forward to sharing.
After the astounding audience reaction to my US tour in 2022 with Howard Jones I have decided to continue with the two-man/Band in a Box format I had then. With keyboards, guitars, loops and samples, I can conjure up the sonic essence of past works with Ultravox and Visage as well as my own solo material.”
