The Mae Simpson band is pure energy and soul. The singer-songwriter Mae, who hails from South Carolina, has a huge voice and stage presence. She has brought together a collective of seven musicians who each bring a unique flavor to this powerhouse group. Mae Simpson Band have built a broad collection of original music that refuses to fall neatly into a single genre. Blistering funk and dance music mixed with Soul, Blues, Americana, Rock, and even a little Hip Hop — bringing the crowd to their feet every time. Playing with acts like Dermot Kennedy, Robert Cray, Pert Near Sandstone, Ike Reilly, and many more. Mae has been a Nominee for City Pages “Best New Band and Best Live Concert” and going on to win City Pages Reader's Choice Best New Band.
The Immaculate Beings is a queer, psychedelic, indie band focused on the importance of self-love, care, and validation through music and performance. Coming together from across the Midwest, Trevor (vox, guitar), Griffin (lead guitar), Martin (drums), Christian (bass, backup vox), Casey (backup vox), and Staurie (keys, backup vox), have dedicated their music careers to helping create a safe space, which is showcased in their first full-length album, Mental Space.
Debuting at First Avenue's 7th St Entry in January of 2020, the band has received high praise for the production, musicianship, and overall message of the record. The Immaculate Beings honest and full dedication is to creating safe spaces where people can be reminded of how much they matter in this world. Their live shows have been called “mind-blowing”, “electric candy” and “loaded with spine-chilling grooves”. They remind everyone that they are loved, while effortlessly rocking faces off.
The Get Together began with the writings and recordings of producer Ethan Huffington. Surrounded by his plants and pedals in a wood-paneled Minneapolis basement, he set about crafting neo-psychedelic journeys through otherworldly dreamscapes. A get together necessarily involves more than one person however, and via the serendipitous magic of the internet, a band soon coalesced around his songs. Together, they created a live act that showcases their combined creative energies, while reinterpreting and expanding upon the recorded discography.
