Free Energy is a Philadelphia-based band, but one with roots in the Minneapolis music scene. A couple of the guys in the band, Scott Wells and Paul Sprangers, were both members of now-defunct local faves Hockey Night.

"Stuck On Nothing," out on DFA Records, is the band's debut full-length release and produced by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. In stores now, the LP is a slab of irresistibly frantic and upbeat indie rock.

The band is currently on tour in support of "Stuck on Nothing" and stopped by The Current studio for a performance.

Songs performed: "Bang Pop" and "Hey You."
