Happy Friday, party people. Between Art-A-Whirl, the Lyn-Lake Street Festival, and Minnesota Music Day on The Current tomorrow, local music lovers are in for a jam-packed couple of days. Here's a handful of new tunes (and one old favorite for good measure) to get you careening into this beautiful weekend. 

1. Dearling Physique team up with Xavier Marquis

We've just learned that Dearling Physique frontman Domino Davis has relocated to Berlin to pursue his music career there. But the rest of his band is still Minneapolis-based, and he's teamed up with another innovative local hip-hop artist, Xavier Marquis, for a new track and trippy video. 2. Gigamesh preps a new EP

With his new four-song EP, All My Life, coming out May 28, Gigamesh is hitting the road to bring his sweet sounds to the masses. Check out a new track from the hot producer, "Dream On," in the throwback video below.

3. KSMQ showcases Minnesota songwriters

So here's a cool thing people did with your Legacy Amendment tax dollars: KSMQ, a Southern Minnesota public television station, invited a crew of talented songwriters from throughout our great state down to Rochester to tape an in-the-round style performance. You can watch a portion of the show, which features performances by Bethany Larson, Dan Israel, Brandon Sampson, and Hayward Williams, in the clip below.

4. Me and My Arrow are on a mission

This constantly shape-shifting act is planning to spend the summer churning out bi-weekly singles that capture their current sound, complete with dreamy vocoder-filtered lead vocals by Jacob Grun. Their first release, "Erazor," will be familiar to anyone who has caught this band live recently, and adequately showcases their new direction and sound.

5. Semisonic get the band back together

In honor of the trio's reunion show tomorrow night in Mound, here's a flashback video for you. Someone recently theorized that "Closing Time" might be the quintessential late-'90s song, and it certainly had a quintessentially late-'90s video to accompany it. I know who I want to take me home...
