Soul Asylum performs in the UBS Forum
MPR / Nate Ryan

Our Soul Asylum lovefest here at The Current has finally come to a head. Delayed Reaction — the band's first new album in five years — was our CD of the Week. Dave Pirner took over The Morning Show airwaves. We even gave away pre-release copies of the album! It's not hard to tell how we feel about the seminal Minneapolis rock band.

On the day of their sold-out show at the 7th St. Entry, Soul Asylum stopped by the UBS Forum to play a live set for Minnesota Public Radio employees and fans. Steve Seel chatted with the band about what they've been up to these past five years, the inspiration behind the new album and expectations for the show at the 7th St. Entry. ("I know it's gonna be sweaty, and I know there are gonna be a lot of dudes there," says guitarist Danny Murphy.)

Songs performed: "By The Way," "Into The Light," "Black Gold," "Gravity" and "Runaway Train."
