Today in Music History: Ed Sullivan Again Reminds The Rolling Stones He Is Their Supreme Master
January 15, 2013

History Highlight:
Today in 1967, The Rolling Stones were forced to change the lyrics of "Lets Spend The Night Together" to "Lets Spend Some Time Together" when appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show after the producers objected to the content of the lyrics. (Sullivan had previously freaked out after the Stones' first appearance on his show when they showed up with "greasy hair" and with Mick wearing a "sweatshirt;" he demanded that if they were ever to return to his stage, they'd have to be shampooed and properly attired). Once again, the Stones complied, although in the footage from the performance, Mick can clearly be seen dramatically rolling his eyes as he sings the altered line.
