City Pages music editor Reed Fischer stopped by the Current this morning to unveil the details for 10 Thousand Sounds, a brand-new downtown Minneapolis music festival that is scheduled for Saturday, June 22.

The Minneapolis alt-weekly booked and organized the festival, which will be held in a parking lot at the intersection of 8th St. and Hennepin Ave. in downtown, and the lineup will certainly be familiar to Current listeners.

Washington, D.C. indie rock quintet the Walkmen will headline, with support from MN expats Free Energy. The remainder of the lineup is all local; up-and-coming hip hop artist Greg Grease (who recently performed at Local Current Live) will perform alongside three of last year's Picked to Click winners: Strange Names, Prissy Clerks, and the Chalice. The three ladies of the Chalice will also host the festivities.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 12, following an exclusive presale that runs April 8-11. Tickets start at $20, and there is also a $45 VIP option.
