The first new music from Lauryn Hill in well over a decade, "Neroutic Society (Compulsory Mix)" comes quickly on the heels of her announcement with Sony that allows her to helm her own boutique label, but requires at least 5 songs and a new album.

While Hill's struggle with the recording industry -- and how it meshes with her personal life -- is nothing new, the April agreement with Sony Music has put Hill in a difficult position.

Sony basically agreed to bail out her tax debt in exchange for new music from the former Fugee star. And it seems, they set some stringent deadlines for her to meet. Alongside the YouTube posting of the song, Hill posted this message:

"Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music... but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday's tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today's unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!
