9:30 Coffee Break: Antiquated Forms of Communication

Remember the rotary phone? We're playing songs about antiquated forms of communication for today's 9:30 Coffee Break.

There's nothing like youth to remind you that you are getting old. Our producer, Jade, was talking to her nieces about being a teen worried that her parents were listening in on the other end of a phone call. Her nieces were confused, what "other end"? How could anyone listen in on your phone call? Yep, land lines are ancient. So are telegrams, the postal service and pretty much any other type of communication that you grew up with.

To honor our youth, we're going to play songs for today's Coffee Break that feature an antiquated form of communication.

Songs played:

The Box Tops "The Letter"
The Replacements "Answering Machine"
T. Rex "Telegram Sam"
Sir Mix-a-Lot "Beepers"
The Police "Message in a Bottle"
Blondie "Hanging on the Telephone"
