Singer-songwriter and producer Beck is set to release new music soon, following his fascinating and wonderfully bizarre Song Reader experiment last year. Rolling Stone reports that Beck has not one but two full-length albums in the works, including a previously-discussed acoustic release and a more full-fledged follow-up to his most recent studio full-length, 2008's Modern Guilt. Just-leaked track "Defriended" gives us a taste of the sound we might expect on the latter release—it's a plodding, creaking electronic ballad that sounds mournful, sinister and serene all at once—but according to Rolling Stone's sources, the track won't appear on either of the singer's new releases. Instead, it's the first of two standalone singles he plans to release this summer. Enjoy our first taste of new material from this iconoclastic indie-rock figure, and let us know what you think!
