Heading to Duluth this weekend for the big Trampled by Turtles and Atmosphere show at Bayfront Park? May as well make a day out of it. Like a mini Homegrown Music Festival, this Saturday boasts a wide variety of concerts all around Duluth, offering Minnesota music fans plenty of opportunities to see something unexpected.

9th Annual CHUM Rhubarb Festival

11th Ave East and London Road, Duluth

9am to 4pm, Free, All Ages

This family friendly event features diverse entertainment options including a kids’ run, rhubarb blessing, demonstration from the Duluth East Daredevils robotics team, and, of course, plenty of chances to dine on rhubarb in a diverse array of delicious dishes. Walt Dizzo (that's me!) hosts the entertainment tent which will feature performances from Road Kill Boys, Diet Folk, Cowboy, and Charlie Parr. All money raised during the event goes to CHUM’s food shelves, emergency shelters, drop-in center and housing advocacy programs.

Following the Trampled By Turtles / Atmosphere / Southwire / Moon and Pollution show in Bayfront Park, music fans will have plenty of opportunities to keep the vibe going with five diverse shows conveniently located in downtown Duluth. Check out:

Toby Thomas Churchill

Sir Benedict's Tavern, Duluth

9 p.m., free, all ages

After being Trampled, if you feel that being serenaded by a couple of Duluth's most talented songwriting gentlemen is what you need, look no further than to Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake. The show will feature the song stylings of Toby Thomas Churchill, formerly of the Alrights, and Jacob Swanson. Expect misanthropic tales about lost love and death peppered with between song comedy.

Black River Revue

Fitger's Brewhouse, Duluth

10 p.m., free, 21+

The Bluegrass inspired Black River Revue will be celebrating the release of their debut record, Garbage Pickin’, with a free show at Fitger’s Brewhouse. If you need a little more banjo or even a washboard for your evening's entertainment, these boys have got you covered.

Jaze

Red Star Lounge, Duluth

10 p.m., $5, 21+

Duluth lyricist Jaze will take the stage along with a plethora of hip hop heads at Red Star Lounge. Jaze, formerly of Kritical Kontact, will be joined by Vision The Kid, Knox, Nobuddie, DJ Risky Fingers along with the event’s host, Emcee Edge.

The Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank

The Rex, Duluth

10 p.m., $5, 21+

Brothers Teague and Ian Alexy celebrate the 8th anniversary of the Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank Saturday at the Rex. The Nephews will feature special guests throughout their performance (including TBT fiddler Ryan Young) and will hit the stage at 11:30 pm. Erik Koskinen and his band are set to open the show.

Wolf Blood

Tycoons Alehouse, Duluth

10 p.m., $5 ($3 with TBT/Atmosphere ticket), 21+

Fans of Duluth rock and roll are in luck as four of Duluth’s best have joined forces to give the masses the bone-rattling, beer swilling, rock show that summer demands. Show up at Tycoons Alehouse by 10pm to check out Wolf Blood, Sexhawk, Manheat, and Wino, WI. In an effort to bridge the potential bluegrass/hip hop/rock and roll divide, fans who show their TBT/Atmosphere Ticket will save $2.
