Just in time for their sold out Orpheum Theater show next week Vampire Weekend return to the top. "Diane Young" spent four weeks in the #1 spot, so we'll see if "Ya Hey" will be the bigger hit. If you can't see them in Minneapolis next Tuesday, Lollapalooza is streaming some of the performances this weekend in Chicago. Vampire Weekend takes the stage Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Lorde proves that the royal birth is NOT the only reason this song is so popular -- it has nearly 4 million views on the YouTubes?!?!

The National are inducted to The Chart Show Hall of Fame just in time for their show at Roy Wilkins Tuesday, August 6. They're doing a special session for us. That'll air on August 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Dawes made a video for "Most People" which includes footage from their show at First Avenue and a shot of host Barb Abney welcoming the band into our studio!

Daft Punk is the highest new entry, which is a good start as I confidently predict that this song will be bigger than that other one of theirs, which I've already forgotten the title of!?

Pixies just announced more tour dates including the Riot Fest in Chicago which will also feature Minneapolis' own The Replacements September 13-15.

Arctic Monkeys make a big splash this week, too, and NME has 40 details about the new album AM, due September 9.

Nine Inch Nails are back on the charts just in time for their biggest return gig yet at Lollapalooza and Divine Fits celebrate the release of their new 12" single "Ain't That the Way" by returning also. We lost Volcano Choir after 2 weeks (Justin Vernon is in town Friday 8/2 at First Avenue with his band The Shouting Matches); Conor Oberst after 3 weeks (he plays with his band Desaparecidos at First Avenue on August 28); and Phoenix after 4 weeks....they're NOT coming back but will be at Lollapalooza, too.
