Arts Reporter Euan Kerr (filling in for Marianne Combs) joins Steve Seel and Jill Riley to talk about some appropriate offerings in the run-up to Halloween.

Haunted Basement — This Halloween tradition at the Soap Factory in Minneapolis is specially designed by local artists and theatre professionals to create a really intense, frightening experience that engages all the senses. The rules typically require groups of four, but for the particularly intrepid, there are "test subject tours" where one can go alone. For those less interested in being frightened, "Fraidy Cat" tours on Sunday mornings offer a behind-the-scenes look at how it all works. The Haunted Basements continues to Sunday, Nov. 3.

9 Artists — With an opening party tonight at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, this international, multigenerational group exhibition considers the changing role of the artist in contemporary culture. Listen to the audio as Euan describes the intended purpose of a gravestone in the Sculpture Garden, and hear him share the story of a skeleton that is buried somewhere on the Walker grounds.

Olivier Latry — The Cathedral of St. Paul has recently refurbished its two pipe organs, and tonight at 7:30, French organ-player extraordinaire Latry will give a free concert. Will Latry perform Bach's chilling Toccata and Fugue in D minor? Might be a fitting piece as Hallowe'en approaches.

Marianne Combs joins The Current's Morning Show for the Weekend Arts Roundup every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Read about all the latest arts news at the State of the Arts blog at mprnews.org.
