How do you make a song sound instantly more dramatic and meaningful? Add some orchestral backing. And now that the Minnesota Orchestra is back in action it feels like the perfect opportunity to play songs that feature an orchestra. Listener Ethan suggested, "a Coffee Break featuring songs with Orchestral or string backing to celebrate the return of the Minnesota Orchestra."

Thanks for the suggestion Ethan. What songs featuring an orchestral backing or string accompaniment should we play this morning?

Do you want a Coffee Break? Send an email to Jill and Steve and let them know you would like coffee and treats fromm JJ's Coffee and Wine Bistro. You'll also get a live performance from local band Carroll. Just email: CoffeeBreak@TheCurrent.org

Songs Played:

The Verve - "Bitter Sweet Symphony"

Roy Orbison - "In Dreams"

R.E.M. - "Nightswimming"
