9:30 Coffee Break: High Waters
June 24, 2014

Our friends at MPR News have been keeping an eye on the floods around Minnesota. They've reported that as flood waters around the state keep rising, Gov. Mark Dayton has extended an emergency declaration for 35 counties for another 30 days, saying he expects a new $3 million disaster assistance account will be exhausted. Even in our own backyard, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has declared a state of emergency as the city braces for the worst flooding it's seen since 2001.
With all the flood talk, we decided to cover it the way we do best, with a Coffee Break. What songs about flooding, floods or rising rivers should we play today?
Songs Played:
Johnny Cash - "Big River"
Neko Case - "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood"
Led Zeppelin - "When the Levee Breaks"
The Paragons - "The Tide is High"
Peter Gabriel - "Here Comes the Flood"
Ike and Tina Turner - "Proud Mary"
