Every Monday at 8:30am StarTribune sports writer Michael Rand stops into the Morning Show to share the latest news in Sports.

Today Michael Rand chatted with The Morning Show's Jill Riley and Steve Seel about:

1) There was a big-time soccer match at the U of M on Saturday between Manchester City and Olympiakos that drew 34,000 fans. What does that game mean for the larger context of soccer in Minnesota?

2) That was just part of a star-studded Saturday in the twin cities. The McCartney concert was of course Saturday at Target Field, while three of the legends of golf played at a tourney in Blaine.

3) Need a Twins player to get excited about? Try 6-5, 275-pound rookie Kennys Vargas.
