MPR News Arts Reporter Marianne Combs joins Steve Seel and Jill Riley to talk about art along a train line, in garages and on a lake.

From There To Here — This exhibition at the Minnesota Museum of American Art explores the ways that public transportation intersects with community and connects people to places and the opportunities they offer. Featuring the commissioned work of local artists Xavier Tavera, Wing Young Huie with Ashley Hanson, and Katherine Turczan, From There To Here celebrates local diversity and creates a sense of place. The Minnesota Museum of American Art is located in the ground floor of Pioneer Endicott Building, overlooking the Green Line. From There to Here runs until Oct. 19.

Stripe and Spot Learn to Get Along — This family-friendly play is the featured production in Off-Leash Area's Garage Tour, which brings live theater to neighborhoods throughout the region by people who volunteer their garages as venues. The first performances happen this coming weekend in Stillwater, Minn., and continue in subsequent weekends into October. Floating Library — This experimental art project introduces the creative genre of artists' books and printed matter to people recreating on an urban lake. to people recreating on an urban lake. People in boats are encouraged to paddle out (rather than swim) to find a selection of artists' books, zines, chapbooks, bookish sculptural objects and other artist-made printed matter for check out and perusal on the water. Floating Library can be found this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Cedar Lake in Minneapolis. It will be on Lake Winona in Winona, Minn., on Sept. 13.
