Lizzo, Sophia Eris, and Claire de Lune featured on Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL album

by Jay Gabler

September 29, 2014

As European fans discovered when Prince's two new albums were released there earlier today, a song on PLECTRUMELECTRUM features Minneapolis's own Lizzo and Sophia Eris. PLECTRUMELECTRUM is Prince's new album with his band 3RDEYEGIRL; the other album, ART OFFICIAL AGE, is credited to Prince alone.

On "BOYTROUBLE," a girl-power romp, first Sophia Eris and then Lizzo contribute spirited raps over the track's burbling beat. Claire de Lune, Lizzo's and Sophia Eris's bandmate in the Chalice, can also be heard singing on the track.

"Boy trouble," goes the song's half-sung, half-shouted chorus, "they don't give up—whenever we come around. Here come the boys!" Other than the two raps and the repeated chorus as well as various vocal interjections, the song is instrumental. Spoken female voices edited into gibberish also recur throughout the track.

"BOYTROUBLE," along with the rest of PLECTRUMELECTRUM and Prince's solo album ART OFFICIAL AGE, will be released in the U.S. tomorrow.
