The Sporting Life with Star Tribune's Michael Rand: Vikings Suffer a Loss

December 15, 2014

Vikings lose to Detroit
Vikings suffer a loss over the weekend.

Every Monday at 8:30am StarTribune sports writer Michael Rand stops into the Morning Show to share the latest news in Sports.

1) Oh, Vikings. They had everything going for them against the Lions. They took a 14-0 lead ... And still managed to lose 16-14.

2) Good news: the Twins signed pitcher Ervin Santana to a 4-year, $55 million contract. It gives them a good shot at having a decent starting rotation next year. Fun fact: Ervin Santana used to go by Johan Santana back in the early 2000s but changed to Ervin because of the dominance of the other Johan Santana.

3) Back to bad news: Rachel Banham, the Gophers women's basketball star, tore her ACL in a recent game. The only good news is that she might be able to play again next year even though she's a senior.
