9:30 Coffee Break: 'World' Songs
January 21, 2015
As we celebrate 10 years this week, we also want to give a shout-out to longtime Morning Show faithful listener Lou Papineau (Lou!) who has been listening to us long distance from Rhode Island for many years. Lou is one of our regular Coffee Break topic suggesters, and we not only love using his topics, but giving him our traditional shout-out when we do.
This week, Lou not only wrote an article for our blog, but suggested some 9:30 Coffee Break topics that were appropriate segues from his article, and we're choosing one of those for our topic today.
Given the worldwide reach The Current has achieved over the past 10 years (as evidenced by Lou's listening itself) — not to mention Mark Wheat's "Global Shout Out" — Lou suggested songs with "world" in the title. I don't think we've done that one before!
So what "world" songs would you like to hear today?
Songs Played
Daft Punk "Around the World"
Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
Neil Young "Rocking in the Free World"
R.E.M. "World Leader Pretend"
David Bowie "The Man Who Sold the World"
Louis Armstrong "What a Wonderful World"
