Doomtree: All Hands
The hometown hip-hop collective known as Doomtree are dropping their fourth studio album. To celebrate the release of All Hands, Doomtree will be appearing at various businesses around town, pausing for a 2 p.m. “ask-me-anything” Reddit chat. They will be ending the day at the new Surely taproom to share some beers with their fans. Here's the full schedule of events:
Doomtree will be in Duluth on Thursday before heading out for the All Hands tour; they'll be back in Minnesota on Feb. 25 for a just-announced release party at First Ave. Read Andrea Swensson's review of All Hands, and grab a free download of album track "Final Boss."
Grammar: I Want a Divorce

At one year young, the new indie-folk quartet Grammar are releasing their debut EP I Want A Divorce. The title track sounds placid with its opening harmonies and droning instrumentation, but beneath it lies a story of a complicated and violent relationship. The single shows off Grammar’s storytelling skills, and you can see them tell those stories live at the 331 Club this Friday for the release show.

Author come in at the poppier end of the dreamy sound that characterizes local acts like Solid Gold and GAYNGS. Relying more on songs than soundscapes, Brighter Days sounds like the sort of album John Lennon might have made in 1994 if he'd survived to collaborate with Jon Brion. Author will be at Fallout Art Center to play a release show this Sunday—and they promise, given that it's Super Bowl Sunday, there will be snacks as well as TVs playing the Big Game.
Sarah Lou Richards: The Woman Behind the Curtain
Sarah Lou Richards is a Wisconsin native who's currently based in Nashville, where she's adopted the abbreviated moniker SLR. She'll be at the Turf Club tomorrow night with a full band to celebrate the release of her new Americana album The Woman Behind the Curtain, supported by Vinnie Rose and Savannah Smith.
Aaron Bolton is a senior at the University of Minnesota. Currently he is a co-host on Radio K’s Off The Record and is the music reporter at Radio K. He hopes to continue a career in music journalism.
