Numerous artists, musicians and organizations in the Twin Cities are coming together to support the relief efforts in Nepal at a benefit concert at Macalester College on Sunday, May 17.

The Association of Nepalis in Minnesota is organizing the fundraiser in response to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25. The devastating earthquake killed more than 7,800 people and injured thousands more. 400,000 families are in need of assistance after the earthquake destroyed tens of thousands of houses in Nepal. The event will take place in The Loch, a venue in Macalester College's student center.

The concert organizers are seeking to make more people aware of the issues faced by people in Nepal and to raise funds for disaster relief efforts. The show will feature live music from saxophonist Nathan Hanson, Matty Harris of the Hennepin County Millionaires Club, Andres Crovetty of Jazzland Wonderband, Katy Vernon, Max Gremillion of Better Bones, Ryan Bachman, SitarTabla, MATRA, and more to be announced. There will also be a silent auction and an art sale featuring works from Raju Lamichhane of Raju’s Arts, Tom Reynen of The AZ Gallery and Saint Paul Art Collective, Rachel Wacker of Rage to Order and 262 Studios, DeAnne Lilly Parks of JAX Art, and more.

Food will be catered by Plymouth India Place and Everest on Grand. More restaurants will likely be sponsoring the event, which begins at noon on Sunday. Tickets are $25, all of which will go to the relief fund to rebuild and recover areas damaged by the earthquake.
