MPR Graphic / Tracy Kompelien

We just wrapped up trivia with Sean McPherson, and today's theme was songs about helping.

It turns out there are a lot of songs that pursue a theme of helping, whether it's the songwriter asking for help, using the word "help" in a conversational way or conveying a larger message of helping out the community or even the world.

As luck would have it, help is also a good theme as we're continuing our spring member drive. You can help support the music you love by becoming a member at thecurrent.org or by calling 1-800-227-2811.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, let's all think about help. What songs do you want to hear that contain the word "help" in the title or in the lyrics? Send us your requests.

Songs Played

Billy Bragg "Help Save the Youth of America"
Metric "Help, I'm Alive"
The Beatles "Help!"
Liz Phair "Help Me Mary"
Joe Cocker "With a Little Help From My Friends"
