While the Lowertown renaissance continues around it, the future is on pause for the music venue formerly known as Station 4. The Pioneer Press reports that the City of St. Paul has condemned the building after a recent inspection, finding problems literally from top (an unsound roof) to bottom (a problematic foundation).

The venue hasn't been open for business since 2013, when the longtime heavy metal haven closed. Plans to reopen the space as a mainstream bar and grill haven't come to fruition, and the music scene that used to be centered there has dispersed to other spots like the Nether Bar (at Mill City Nights) and the Triple Rock Social Club.

According to the Pioneer Press, inspectors found 43 building and fire code violations that will need to be repaired or authorities will order the building—which dates to 1878—vacated.
