Joe Alton is editor-in-chief of The Growler and project director of the Beer Dabbler. He joins The Current's Morning Show to talk about collaborations in the local craft-beer community.

"It is a beautiful thing to see some of the parallels between the different breweries and how they work together," Alton says. "The community of craft beer has always been one that has been similar to music in that the artisans of craft beer are less hesitant to work together than some other industries."

Alton notes that area brewers often borrow raw ingredients and share equipment, and some brewers even work in more than one facility.

As it happens, there are several events in the Twin Cities this summer that highlight brewery collaborations:

In Cahoots: The reboot of the Red Stag Block Party — a collaboration event where 10 breweries pair up to create five different beers.

Beer Dabbler at Twin Cities Pride on Friday, June 26 — more than 30 food trucks and 30 breweries collaborate on dishes to highlight local food and beer

Summer Beer Dabbler — this beer festival is happening at CHS Field in downtown St. Paul on Aug. 15.
