9:30 Coffee Break: Color + Animal

Blue Ox Festival

June 12, 2015

Called "the Midwest's premier Bluegrass, Roots, and Americana music festival," the Blue Ox Festival is underway now in Eau Claire, Wis.

The Blue Ox Festival is hosted by the band Pert Near Sandstone, and its lineup features the Yonder Mountain String Band, the Del McCoury Band, Justin Townes Earle, Greg Brown and Charlie Parr, among many others.

Tying in nicely with its Upper Midwestern setting, the Blue Ox Festival takes its name from Babe the Blue Ox, the fabled bovine who accompanied the legendary lumberjack Paul Bunyan in his adventures.

And it turns out there are a lot of songs that use a color plus an animal in the title.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that have a color plus an animal named in the title? Send us your requests.

Songs Played

Primus "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion"
The Beatles "Blackbird"
Jefferson Airplane "White Rabbit"
Jack White "That Black Bat Licorice"
Janet Jackson "Black Cat"
