This morning we received an email from Trish, a listener in Elk River, Minn. Trish writes, "As I was driving to work, I observed this phenomenon (actually one of my favorite things about driving in the rain) where as you pass under a bridge, there is a brief pause in the rain; I realized that some of my favorite songs use a musical pause to great effect. Maybe songs that use a musical pause might make a fun coffee break?"

Thanks for the idea this morning, Trish! Let's explore this idea.

For today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that use a pause (or rest) to great effect? Send us your requests.

Songs Played

The Replacements "Can't Hardly Wait"
The Beatles "Hello, Goodbye"
Beastie Boys "Sabotage"
The Four Tops "Bernadette"
Florence and the Machine "Dog Days are Over"
