Friday Five: Reina del Cid, Wee Willie Walker, Hope Country, and more new Minnesota music videos

by Andrea Swensson

July 17, 2015

Happy Friday! I'm filing this week's video roundup from beautiful Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where the inaugural Eaux Claire Music & Art Festival is about to get underway. Before the music begins, I wanted to take a minute to share the latest crop of videos to emerge from local artists around the state, including a documentary from Prairie Public Broadcasting and the debut of a new video from Hope Country.

Reina del Cid

The latest artist to be featured on Prairie Public Broadcasting's excellent ongoing series is Reina del Cid, whose new album, The Cooling, is out now. The 26-minute special features performances of several songs off the album and an interview with the band's frontwoman.

Wee Willie Walker

Speaking of artists with new albums out, one of the Twin Cities' veteran soul singers, Wee Willie Walker, just threw a big album-release bash at the Minnesota Music Cafe for his latest, If Nothing Ever Changes. I love this video of him covering Sam Cooke's classic "A Change is Gonna Come."

Matt Latterell

You know you're in for an experience when a music video comes with a photo sensitivity warning. Matt Latterell's new Phase & Field is due out in September.

Hope Country

Filmed in downtown St. Paul and the wide-open expanse of a country road, this brand-new video from Americana band Hope Country is about getting the heck out of the city and leading a simpler life.

Scott Woolridge

If you get too hot this weekend, this frosty video from Scott Woolridge oughta cool you down. Remember wearing parkas? And gloves? And losing the feeling in your fingers and the tip of your nose?
