Eating and Drinking with Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl: Cheap Eats
August 12, 2015

Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine's Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl brings her extensive knowledge of the Midwest dining scene to Eating and Drinking.
Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl stops by The Current's Morning Show to talk about living large, food-wise, on a budget.
Living large on a budget. "There are so many ways," Dara says. "All of these restaurants around town have these special meals one or two nights a week. Keeping track of these is hard, even for me."
Many area restaurants offer these specials as a way to encourage sampling, but it's also a great way to enjoy local cuisine without breaking the bank. Here is a list of places Dara describes:
Nightingale — In south Minneapolis; two nights a week, it serves a three-course meal for $20.
Café Maude — In southwest Minneapolis, offers a $20 meal every Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meritage — In downtown St. Paul, every Sunday, offers a $30 three-course supper. Also offered at its sister restaurant, Brasserie Zentral in downtown Minneapolis.
Mai Village — On University Avenue in Frogtown, St. Paul, , it serves seven courses of beef for $18.95.
Jax Café — In Northeast Minneapolis, on Sunday nights, Jax serves a $30 lobster dinner. Phone ahead.
Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl, veteran Twin Cities food and dining authority, is a five-time James Beard Award-Winning food writer who is also at Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine and author of Drink This: Wine Made Simple.
