On Sunday evening, Lucius were scheduled to play Mayo Park in Rochester with opener Henry James Patterson. Mark Wheat, who always enjoys hanging out with our Rochester audience, was on hand for what promised to be a great show. Unfortunately, severe weather cut the show short—but the gracious members of Lucius helped make it up to a few dozen die-hard fans by playing an impromptu acoustic set even as the rain continued to fall.

As MPR's Dennis Brooks writes, "There was a threat of storms that evening and the decision was made to start the opening act early and then in turn to have Lucius come on early as well. After a few songs the concert had to come to a close due to the threat of lightning and rain in the approaching storm."

Due to safety concerns, the storm meant the end of the concert proper. Nonetheless, writes Dennis, "a number of people waited around and did not leave Mayo Park. They just gathered and socialized. Lucius then came out to greet the individuals that remained and spoke with them. Then they started to sing, and for those that stuck around it was a highlight of the night."

That wasn't the only way in which Lucius were awesome to their Rochester fans: Sunday morning, they stopped by the Mayo Clinic to play for some hospitalized children. Earlier this summer, Lucius thrilled thousands of fans at Rock the Garden. Listen to their set here.
