With Aqua Teen Hunger Force set to end its run on Adult Swim, an elegy for the show has been recorded by an artist Rolling Stone calls "the world's least likely Aqua Teen Hunger Force fan": Patti Smith.

The N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton is expected to top the North American box office for a second consecutive weekend, as theaters across the country add screens devoted to the unexpected hit. (Billboard) Meanwhile, controversy continues to swirl around the film's omission of various aspects of the group's history—notably Dr. Dre's alleged abuse of at least two women. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that at last one of those incidents—the rapper's alleged assault on journalist Dee Barnes—did in fact appear in an early version of the film's screenplay, but was later cut.

Lana Del Rey has released the track list for her forthcoming album Honeymoon, which will be released on September 18. The 14-song album, it turns out, will end with Del Rey's cover of the song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," first popularized by Nina Simone in 1964 and also famously recorded the following year by the Animals. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala has been threatened with a lawsuit by Samm Culley, who alleges that Parker illegally sampled a drum lick from the 1973 song "It's a New Day," by Culley's band Skull Snaps, on the Tame Impala track "Eventually." Parker denied the charge, saying that the Tame Impala track featured "my drums" and not a sample. "It's a New Day" has previously been sampled by artists including Common, the Pharcyde, and Ol' Dirty Bastard. (Pitchfork)

Alanis Morissette has announced plans to release a 20th anniversary collector's edition of her smash hit album Jagged Little Pill. The four-disc release, coming out October 30, will include a remastered version of the original album as well as unreleased demos, an entire concert from the Jagged Little Pill era, and a book with an essay and previously unseen photos from Morissette.
