Today, kids in the Minneapolis School District begin the new school year. Although kids in neighboring school districts may gloat about that, ask not for whom the school bell tolls — you'll all be back in school soon enough.

And whether you're starting school today, next week or after Labor Day, earlier this morning we were talking about the school-supplies lists given to kids before the school year begins. With that in mind, it got us thinking there are a lot of songs that make mention of school supplies: pens, pencils, calculators and the like.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that mention school supplies? Send us your requests.

Songs Played

Thom Yorke "The Eraser"
Kraftwerk "Pocket Calculator"
Sam Cooke "Wonderful World"
Ramones "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue"
Wild Beasts "Devil's Crayon"
Talking Heads "The Book I Read"
