Throbbing Hive with John Moe: Spotify CEO says, 'Trust me'
August 25, 2015

Every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m., John Moe stops into the Morning Show to share the latest news in Technology.
This week, John Moe stopped by The Current's Morning Show to talk to Jill Riley and Sean McPherson about an item that's a matter of trust. No, it's not the Billy Joel song.
Spotify kinda sorta clarifies new privacy policy
"If you can't trust music-industry CEOs, then really, who can you trust?" John asks.
The question comes after Spotify last week issued an update to its privacy policy, in which there were a lot of mentions about collecting data from users' photos, contacts and phone locations. "It's the most common thing in the world to just click through any privacy policy," John says, "but people read this one a little more carefully and freaked out."
Daniel Ek, the founder and CEO of Spotify, said if you don't want to share this info, you don't have to, and John points out that Spotify already collects a lot of information through its users mobile carriers. "But what I always find a little hubristic is that these tech companies always say 'Trust us,' and they expect that to be enough for everybody," John says.
Bad Lip Reading takes on GOP debate
For the uninitiated, Bad Lip Reading is a series of humorous videos in which, as John explains, "They dub in words that look kind of like what the lips of the person talking might be saying."
Bad Lip Reading's latest project involved the recent Republican debate. "It's completely nonpartisan, it's completely nonsensical," John says. "The distinguishing feature of this Bad Lip Reading — which I haven't' seen before — is that the debate ends with a sing-off."
John Moe co-hosts the podcast Conversation Parade (with Open Mike Eagle) and he also hosts the Home Dunk podcast, both from Infinite Guest.
