The Chart Show: Tame Impala moves to the top ... 'cause they can

Another tight race at the top, although Wilco dropped off considerably, we saw Tame Impala wrestle the Number One slot away from Beck. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala might've been inspired, however, by Beck's song "Dreams" in putting together a bedtime mix tape for the BBC.
Beck is inducted to the Hall Of Fame for the second time with the stand-alone single. No news yet on more Beck material finding it's way to us, but he has been busy collaborating, appearing on both the new album from The Chemical Brothers and joining Taylor Swift on stage!
Low are up to #4 with a track from this weeks Album of the Week. Andrea suggests in her review that it's the "...best of the bands career." They will be doing an in-studio session with Jade this Friday morning at 11:30 a.m.
Foals are the highest new entry this week. They've been getting rave reviews for their festival appearances in the UK and have already sold out their entire Autumn tour there. They only have two gigs planned for this year in the USA, Dec 5th in Columbus Ohio and Nov 29th in L.A. where they need you to design a poster for them.
Frank Turner, another Brit, is new this week at #10. Turner started out in a punk band, Million Dead, until 2005. In the UK he leaped to fame after performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in 2012. Now he's on his 6th solo release "Positive Songs For Negative People" which he has said is is 'definitive statement'...for now!
Courtney Barnett continues her amazing year by getting a 4th song from her recent album on to our chart. She's also done quite well in her home down under, leading the nominations for the Australian independent music awards.
The Libertines make their debut on our chart, as it wasn't around the last time they released an album 10 years ago!
They've been making news for all the wrong reasons again too. Last week they cancelled a London gig at the very last minute, with the sold out show crowd waiting and booing for several hours before being asked to go home. Apparently it was Pete Doughty's anxiety that stopped the show and made them cancel several others.
And finally OMAM are back with the new single from their recent "Beneath The Skin". They play Roy Wilkins on October 1st and you can see a new video for 'Empire' on their site.
