Andre Durand's farewell

As the music community continues to mourn the talented filmmaker Andre Durand, who passed away Sunday at the age of 32, a new video surfaced that features some of his most recent cinematography work. In the words of his close friend Dan Huiting, who directed the video, "Andre's cinematography was at the top of his game, and he did an amazing job. The video itself deals with death, and how we process it, and this makes me miss my friend so much."

Carroll's Alligator

With their full-length debut out now, Carroll's new video and single have been making the rounds online, and it's well worth a look. For some reason, with the way this video was shot, I feel like we're about to start watching a Columbo episode.

Step Rockets' steamy romance

Maybe save this one for after you get out of the office. It's a steamy downtown Minneapolis romance in Step Rockets' new video for "Turning Tides," which you can probably hear live (and try to re-enact? Or maybe just stand there and drink beer) when they play the Triple Rock tomorrow night.

John Mark Nelson's Fleetwood Mac cover

Thanks to my radio friend David Campbell for alerting me to this video, which a fan captured at John Mark Nelson's album release show a few weeks back when he founded up his band and friends to sing Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain."

Prof's big break

Breakout Minneapolis rap star Prof got a big nod from Rolling Stone today when he landed a spot on their "10 New Artists You Need to Know" list. The article included some on-point words from Twin Cities-based music critic Keith Harris, who says Prof sounds like, "A perverted Macklemore from a parallel universe with a fixation on debauchery and an ear for a pop hook."
