9:30 Coffee Break: Artists with Musical Parents
by Jill Riley and Sean McPherson
November 04, 2015
Earlier this morning, we aired the in-studio session with Albert Hammond Jr., whose father, Albert Hammond, is an accomplished songwriter whose own hits include "It Never Rains in Southern California," plus hits for Whitney Houston ("One Moment In Time"), Starship ("Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now") and Ace of Base ("Don't Turn Around").
Albert Hammond Jr. isn't the only artist spun on The Current who got into the family business. There are a number of artists whose parents were also musicians, giving us a great idea for our Coffee Break theme.
So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear by artists whose parents are also musicians? Send us your requests.
Songs Performed
Albert Hammond, Jr "Losing Touch" (Albert Hammond)
Martha Wainwright "You Cheated Me" (Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle)
Rufus Wainwright "Out of The Game" (Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle)
Jeff Buckley "Last Goodbye" (Tim Buckley)
The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger "Too Deep" (John Lennon and Yoko Ono)
Inara George "Genius" (Lowell George of Little Feat)
Nancy Sinatra "Sugar Town" (Frank Sinatra)
Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 "African Airways" (Fela Kuti)
