Heavy Table food editor James Norton joins the Current's Morning Show to talk about the local food scene.

Heavy Table Editor James Norton joins Jill Riley and Sean McPherson to talk about the final chapter in his culinary tour of Central Avenue Northeast, from Interstate 694 in Fridley, Minn., all the way down to Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis.

"Me and a few other contributors … have, over the course of a few months, eaten at the 56 independent restaurants between 694 and Broadway Street on Central Avenue," James says. "It's been an undertaking … it's almost book-length at this point."

Here are the Central Avenue restaurants James discusses in this week's report:

Little India International Market

Kim's Vietnamese and Chinese

Diamonds Coffee Shoppe

Narobi Ethiopian Market

Listen to the complete interview above to hear James's thoughts on the diversity and the rich tapestry of culture and flavor one can find on Central Avenue.

James Norton edits the Upper Midwestern food journal, Heavy Table. He's also the co-author of a book on Wisconsin's master cheesemakers and editor of The Secret Atlas of North Coast Food.
