What was YOUR first job out of college? When the four members of Mipso graduated a few years ago, they basically piled their instruments into a van and hit the road, putting aside their majors for the excitement of live music. Temporarily? … Maybe not.

The members of Mipso live in and around Chapel Hill, N.C., and hang out with all of the great string bands of that rich region, including the Steep Canyon Rangers, Town Mountain and others. In fact, Mipso's latest record, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, was produced by Andrew Marlin of Mandolin Orange.

Guitarist Joseph Terrell and mandolin player Jacob Sharp started playing music together just before college and eventually got bassist Wood Robinson to join. The trio then waited for fiddle player Libby Rodenbough to graduate so they could all hit the road.

Mipso's latest album is Old Time Reverie. They dropped by the Radio Heartland studios in the middle of their latest Midwest run.
