According to The Hollywood Reporter, Swedish actor Noomi Rapace is an early favorite to portray Amy Winehouse in a planned biopic of the same name. Rapace rose to international attention through her role as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film adaptations of author Stieg Larsson's books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. Summer 2014 saw the release of Amy, Asif Kapadia's acclaimed Winehouse documentary. The Amy Winehouse biopic will be the work of Irish filmmaker Kristen Sheridan, who is currently negotiating with Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father, for music rights for the upcoming film. Belle and Sebastian have had to cancel an upcoming European tour due to concerns about frontman Stuart Murdoch's health. A statement on the band's website didn't provide too many details, but Murdoch has had a history of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In November 2014, Murdoch shared a rather frightening episode with a facial palsy in a detailed entry in his online diary, which he related to ME. "My attitude to ME/post viral fatigue was always pretty positive I thought," Murdoch wrote at the time. "Since 1989, it has caused me to live life determinedly to the best in whatever direction I was fit to move in. Inevitably though you come up against a threshold. Only in the past few years have I actually admitted that this whole business is here for the long run, that my immune system seems to be the weak point." Belle & Sebastian were last in the Twin Cities in June of this year, when they played Rock the Garden 2015. (Newsweek)

Pitchfork's Mark Richardson has named Bob Dylan's The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Volume 12 "Best New Reissue" in his 8.7 rating of the release. "The Cutting Edge is music of the present, but not the '60s present, an eternal present," Richardson writes, "the songs are about observation and they exist in a place where it's always now, in sound and word." Another album releasing on Jan. 29, 2016, is Sia's This Is Acting. The video for that album's lead single, "I'm Alive," was released on Thursday, Nov. 5, and it features a young martial-arts expert giving a video clinic in her form. As reported on Thursday, Nov. 5, The Fader released a documentary on local hip-hop artist Allan Kingdom. The eight-minute video, shot in St. Paul, is now posted to YouTube. The title of the documentary is True North, a reference to a phrase in the national anthem of Canada, Kingdom's nation of birth. (City Pages)
