MPR News Arts Reporter Marianne Combs joins Jade and Sean McPherson to talk about new, not-so-traditional holiday traditions in the local art world.

Here's the rundown:

All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 — From Theater Latte Da and presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust comes a musical theater work about the spontaneous World War I truce.

Nutcracker (not so) Suite — JSB presents the Ballet of the Dolls production which is a coming-of-age tale much closer to E.T.A. Hoffman's original, grittier story than the Sugar Plum Fairy version many know today.

A Very Die Hard Christmas — Presented by Dana's Boys and Mainly Me Productions, the Bryant Lake Bowl has one more weekend of the returning comedy/musical extravaganza which combines the action and suspense of Die Hard with the joy and sentiment of everyone's favorite TV Christmas specials.

Marianne Combs joins The Current's Morning Show for the Weekend Arts Roundup every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Read all the latest arts news from MPR News.
