Yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, marking the birthday of the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement.

At the Current, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day kicks off our voting for the artists we will feature in February for Black History Month. We're narrowed the list, but we need your help choosing the final four artists.

For today's 9:30 Coffee Break, let's expand the pot even more. What African-American musical icons do you want to hear?

Songs Played

The Thrill is Gone - BB King
Beat It - Michael Jackson
Everything is Everything -Lauryn Hill
You Can't Catch Me - Chuck Berry
God Bless the Child - Billie Holiday
Run-DMC - My Adidas

Do you deserve a Coffee Break? We at The Current's Morning Show think you do, and we want to bring coffee and treats from Peace Coffee and Glam Doll Donuts to your workplace. In addition, we'll bring along local band Little Fevers to perform a couple of songs for you and your coworkers. Let us know why you'd like a Coffee Break - or request your own idea for a future topic.
