When last I spoke with Vicky Emerson, we talked about how being a mother had influenced her songwriting career. Fast-forward two-and-a-half years, and motherhood is still a major part of her life —but she has also found new spirit in her music.

Vicky's new album, Wake Me When the Wind Dies Down, has just come out and it has some signature Vicky Emerson songs on it, but it also contains some new-found energy and "feistiness" as her fans and bandmates will attest.

Vicky Emerson and her longtime producer and guitarist Matt Patrick were in the studio to play some new songs from the album and to talk about her album-release show on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m., at Icehouse in Minneapolis.

Songs Performed

"Long Gone"
"September Midnight"
"Under My Skin"

Hosted and produced by Mike Pengra
