Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine's Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl brings her extensive knowledge of the Midwest dining scene to Eating and Drinking.
Today, Dara talked with Sean and Jade about integrative medicine – pairing Western treatments with non-traditional remedies.
"All of these doctors and all of these hospital systems are saying 'Hey you know what? The connection between heart disease, diabetes and what you eat is profound'," Dara says.
There are a lot of metabolic diseases that have root in what you eat, Dara says. And many foods have added sugars to them, often ones you might not think (like spaghetti sauce).
"You might think you're eating healthy foods but you're not," Dara says.
And knowing how to cook can be an important part in getting and staying healthy.
"Every time you add a vegetable to your life, you're in a better position," Dara says.
Listen to the interview above to hear about the doctors, therapies, and medical centers that are trending towards integrative medicine. To read more about this topic, read Dara's article at MSP magazine.
Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl, veteran Twin Cities food and dining authority, is a five-time James Beard Award-Winning food writer who is also at Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine and author of Drink This: Wine Made Simple.
